Pamela b. williams sustainer of excellence award

Submission Deadline: May 30th

Artist: Justin Q, Young (Richmond, VA)

in loving memory of our unparalleled trailblazer

In honor of our late Cousin Pamela B. Williams, we introduced the Sustainer of Excellence Award in 2022. The inaugural award was presented at the 90th Wilson Family Reunion after the reveal of a commissioned portrait of our trailblazer, Pam.

Pam’s contributions to the Wilson family are unparalleled. Much of the family’s rich history was uncovered by cousin Pam. She researched her family’s history for over 20 years. It all began with her conversations with her maternal grandmother, Rosa Wilson Bagley, and continued through interviews with elderly family members, in libraries, courthouses, and state archives.

Pam spent countless hours digging through records such as wills, deeds, delated birth registers, birth and death certificates, marriage bonds, marriage licenses, inventories, accountings, census records, obituaries, bill of sales, WWII draft registration cards, to name a few, in hopes of unearthing the past.

Each year at the reunion she would share an amazing discovery about the Wilson family. In loving memory of this tradition emerged the Sustainer of Excellence Award. The award will be presented to an ideal candidate who possess a high regard and great love for family, is a leader of change, and is an active community trailblazer.

These individuals will be nominated by the family-at-large. All submissions are due by May 30th.
